Wider Curriculum
This page shows the curriculum overviews and progression documents for other subjects including: History, Geography, Art, DT, Music, Spanish and PSHE/SRE.
History
We follow a scheme of work from Rising Stars for our history curriculum. It offers a range of different time periods for the children to explore and study; inlcuding local history, British history, non-European and early civilisation studies.
Geography
For Geography we follow a scheme of work provided by Oddizzi. It provides the children with the opportunity to learn about location knowledge, place knowledge, human and physical geography and geographical skills and fieldwork.
Art
Art is taught following a scheme of work produced by Kapow. The children explore different elements of the art curriculum including: making skills, generating ideas, knowledge and evaluation. They also learn about different artists and explore language linked to art.
Below are two documents - one shows the different topics that the children study each half term and the other shows how the skills and knoweldge progress across the year groups.
DT
DT is also taught following a scheme of work produced by Kapow. The children learn how to: design, make, evaluate and use technical knowledge. They always explore pre-exisiting designs before creating their own.

Spanish
At SPC we teach Spanish using a scheme of work that is designed for non-spanish speaking teachers called Start Spanish with Luis y Sofia and to support this we also use a scheme made by Rachel Hawkes, Driector of International Education and Research for Comberton Academy Trust. Both allow the children to learn the language through a story based approach. Vocabulary and conversation skills are taught through oral lessons and recording is introduced when appropriate.
Below is the overview of the curriculum and it shows how the skills will develop across the school as it roles up the year groups. Initally all year groups will be working on the Year 3 curriculum as this is a new language for the school.
PSHE/SRE
At SPC our PSHE and SRE curriuclum are combined. The SRE curriculum is taught following a scheme of work published by Ten:Ten. This is a Catholic company who support Catholic schools with educating the children around sex and relationship education while remaining within the parameters of the Catholic teachings on these topics. The PSHE element has been deisgned by the school and compliments the SRE by addressing any gaps that are not covered; such as British values and global and political understanding. In the overview below the RSE is identifed in blue and the wider PSHE is in black.
Alongside the standard curriculum we have also created and follow a lifeskills curriculum and the '100 things to do before you leave SPC'. Both of these provide the children with the chance to experience opportuniteis and develop skills that we believe all children should have.
Below is a document that shows how the skills and knowledge of the PSHE and SRE progress across the school. There are also the documents that illustrate the life skills curriculum and the '100 things to do before you leave SPC'.
