Religious Education
At St Peter Chanel, we follow The Way, The Truth and The Life scheme of work. Children have two and a half hours of RE a week, this consists of two hour lessons and half an hour in class reflection time. Of the two lessons, the first is usually a creative lesson and the second allows children to write about their faith. Alongside the tuaght RE curriculum, children also particpate in weekly assemblies and both class and whole school masses, led by the parish priest.
Whole School Curriculum Overview
This document indicates what topics are covered each half term across the whole school.
Prayer and Worship
Prayer and Worship goes alongside the curriculum element of RE and is fundamental in developing and strengthening the faith of the children. Each year group particiaptes is class mass once a term and has the opportunity to attend whole school events for key liturgical times of the year; such as Lent and Advent. The parish preist works closely with the school and supports the chidlren in deepening their spiritual thoughts and responses. Below is a document that outlines the prayers children learn across their time at SPC.
Charitable Acts
We also strive to develop the children's SMRC through assigning them a charitable event that they are responsible for. Each class is given at least one charitable event they have to organsie and lead on in the school. These are recorded in the document below.
